I read an article in the newspaper the other day and nature groups are protesting the US government's use of GMO in national wildlife parks. (There are a bunch of parks across the country that are owned and protected by the US government. Nobody is allowed to tear them down and built houses on them or use the property for anything. They have to stay the way they are.) The government wanted to use seeds that are GMO and people are complaining it will ruin the parks. For instance, the seeds must be resistant to insects because people were saying the insects would then die and the wildlife would have nothing to feed on. It would ruin the balance of nature. Also, if any animals eat the GMO vegetation they may die. I think the nature groups are in the process of taking the situation to the courts. |
